CORINEX GROUP, a.s. in cooperation with the sub-suppliers and general supplier - BAE Systems, worked out a technical design and then executed the construction of the MOKYS system. CORINEX GROUP, a.s. is responsible for the design and implementation of the ICT and safety sub-systems and for the design and partial implementation of mechanical and electrical sub-system.

The MOKYS system provides a communication environment and IT services for the tactical and operational level of the command. It ensures connection to the strategic level, to public telecommunication systems and to the Internet. It creates a mobile grid communication infrastructure in field conditions to support the command and management of operations of military and non-military characters. Using a modular method, by means of various kinds of communication nodes, it makes possible to create highly available (HA) and secure command sites of brigades and battalions.

The MOKYS system integrates the most advanced information, network and radio technologies. It is a very complex, advanced mobile communication system based on the IP technology and IT services. It will make possible for the Department of Defence to fulfil demanding objectives of the NATO Forces, to which the Slovak Republic has committed itself.

The MOKYS is designed as a completely mobile, robust, adaptable, modular, interoperation, secure, reliable, expandable military mobile communication system for transmission and processing of data, voice and video. The system is designed as a completely distributable and makes possible to fulfil tasks with any subset of the system with minimum requirements on reconfiguration. The modular design and the wide portfolio of communication means allow users to build up and connect command sites of different sizes and assignments, with different levels in the area of responsibility. It meets demanding requirements on physical execution and security. It ensures integration with public data and voice networks as well as with combat radio networks and the specialised military technology inclusive of NATO STANAG. Using defined interfaces they allow allocation and usage of the system under conditions of the Slovak Republic as well as international missions, in which our Army fulfils stated tasks.

The MOKYS creates a system environment, a communication layer and provides IT services such as e-mail, directory services and services for sending messages to support the command and management system. The system is managed by sophisticated means that, based on verification of authorisations, allow current display of a system status and its management from whichever site and does not require highly qualified personnel at all nodes and operation sites. Security policy of the system is based on ISO 17799 and on „best practices" and is applied through tools such as firewalls, application firewalls, ACL, AAA, NAC, IDS, IPS, VPN, SSH, SSL and AV.

The system architecture is opened, modular, based on opened standards and oriented towards provision of services. The commercial technology is implemented to a maximum possible extent. It rests on products of reputable suppliers such as: Cisco Systems, Microsoft, HP and CA.

The system is located in special standardised containers and vehicles with ballistic protection that provide high level of user protection and possibility of transportation by NATO standard means of transportation on roads, water, railway and in air.

The MOKYS has been introduced to the President of the Slovak Republic, to the Prime Minister, to the Chief of General Staff, to the Minister of Defence and to other top political and military officers. The system has successfully undergone the series of plant and inspection tests and it was tested within the framework of military tests at the largest field exercise of interoperability - NATO, Combined Endeavour.
