GIS solution covers the needs of utilities companies at the comprehensive level in terns of geo-information technologies. It represents a system fully oriented at objects. Solution offers user-friendly and comfort environment covering individual requirements of the customer by the means of function modules.
Robust spatial indexing is able to manage any size of the database. Technology of versioned database enables concurrent work for almost unlimited number of users not only in the reading regime as well as while making records into database. System serves for administration of facilities and managing business processes in the utilities companies, it supports all commonly used data types (vector and raster data). Concerning performance, robustness, reliability of the solution and adaptability to the company's individual requirements, it is designated for medium-sized and large gas, water, heat and power distributing companies.
Technical solution
GIS is executed by the means of standard three-layer architecture which can be extended and modified as per the needs. It enables to work with a system not limiting a number of users working with it at the same time.
- Database layer comprises of database server which controls a central database and provides application layer with the access to the requested data. Layer can comprise of one or more database servers.
- Application layer comprises of application logics which works with data provided by the database layer and ensures required functioning of the application.
- Presentation layer comprises only tools for presentation of data and entire application logic is arranged by the application server.
Main functionality
- Versioned spatial database
- Creating and editing database objects
- Searching information about objects and their localization on the map
- Making network analyses
- Work with inner worlds of the objects (schemes of technological equipment)
- Creating print-outs -PDF support
- import/export of vector and raster files of various formats
- exporting data to MS Office
- connecting files to the objects (images, text files ....)
Benefits
- improving administration and management of spatial and description data
- making up-to-date spatial data available for wide range of final users
- improving decision making process and investment planning leading to reduction of company's operational costs
- making the operation and maintenance more effective - prevention against emergencies and breakdowns
- managing access to data - simple administration of roles and user's rights, high grade of authorization management as per e role, location and object class
- simple searching for data from the database
Utilizing the solution
GIS enables to collect, control and check spatial and description data from networks. It is executed by the means of function modules tailored directly for the customer and designed for covering client's work procedures as well as requirements. Implemented solution shall provide:
- support of operational and maintenance activities
- the wide spectrum of final users with fast and comfortable access to the actual information
- centralized administration and data recording as well as editing
- support of decision making and planning of new possibilities for company's investments
- integration of the GIS to the available information systems such as SAP
- support of processes for executing investment projects, managing entire lifespan cycle of the "construction"
- automation of the processes related with design eventually with the structure of data needed for various purposes or support of activities connected with the data administration
- planning and administering "corridors" in connection with the distribution facilities
- generating and publishing schemes of selected part of the network as per the required criteria
- thematic mapping of spatial data
- analyzing, visualization and reporting of data from various data sources (GE Smallworld, AutoCAD® DXF/DGN, ESRI® Shape, MapInfo MID/MIF, ODBC compatible sources, ...)
- displaying data through a thin intranet client
- data collection and administration in the field - supporting work with the GPS equipment
